Ever since I started sewing vintage-inspired garments I have been on the hunt for vintage-looking fabrics. Needless to say, they are not so easy to come by!
I have heard the same complaint from many seamstresses who love vintage. Some complain mostly about the extinct types of fabrics and I feel their pain but personally, I find enough variety among modern fabrics too. Whats my problem is the overpowering presence of modern prints on everything. You simply can’t make a 1940’s looking dress with a modern print.
Not many of you know yet, but I have recently started designing patterns and prints. I have spent my July learning the designing process and I am excited to share with you the first results of my work!
I set off to design a series of fabric with a delicate rose print. The roses, the stems, and leaves were handpainted by me in watercolors. I can’t wait to make the first shirtdress in this fabric!!!
You can choose between pink, blue, yellow or cream colors and bigger or smaller flowers.
The whole collection is now available for purchase on Spoonflower. Click here to check it out!
What’s lovely about Spoonflower is that you can choose your own fabric to print the design on. Do you want to buy cotton fabric for a dress? No problem. Would you like to use it as a fun lining for your coat? Sure, why not! All options are available.
Please let me know in the comments if you like the idea of having a custom made fabric, just for you!
Do you have any dream vintage fabric print you would like to see brought back to life?
Love,
